Braves Split Doubleheader with Harwich

Creede Simpson's walkoff hit gave the Braves a quirky 2-1 win in the back end of Sunday's doubleheader, splitting two games with the Harwich Mariners 5-0 and 2-1.
For the second time in a week, Bourne was held hitless into their last at-bat in game two, this time by Mariners pitcher Clint Moore (0-1; West Point). But Travis Shaw broke it up with a leadoff single in the seventh, and came around to score the winning run. Shaw went first-to-third on a single by Nick Ahmed, and scored the winning run on a ground-ball single by Simpson that deflected off pitcher Matt Ramsey.
Mike Dimock (Wake Forest) pitched very well in the spot start for Bourne in game two, throwing five shutout, two-hit innings. But Moore matched him pitch for pitch, allowing only three walks before giving up the base hit to Shaw, his last batter of the game. Ramsey relieved him but could not prevent the inherited runner from scoring. Kevin Brady (3-0; Clemson) pitched a scoreless seventh for the win.
Bourne took a first inning lead when Travis Janikowski (Stony Brook) walked and came around to score on a wild pitch. But Harwich was able to equalize on a sixth inning single by Brian Goodwin, scoring Craig Manuel. Until the sixth-inning run scored, Harwich was in danger of losing despite throwing a no-hitter.
In the first game, a shaky third inning by Anthony Meo (2-1; Coastal Carolina) cost the Braves. Five runs crossed the plate on three hits, including two RBIs each for Tyler Pill and Clint Moore. The Braves couldn't put together any offense off of Mariners starter Pierce johnson (3-1; Missouri State), who retired fifteen of the last sixteen batters in the game and only allowed two hits en route to the win.
The final home game of the regular season starts at 6:00 Monday, as the Braves, now 21-20, host Cotuit in a pivotal Western Division game. It's also the final Autograph Night of the season at Doran Park.
